The time we are living through right now is filled with so much more potential, opportunity and possibility then ever before.
We aren't doing things the same way our parents did. This Millennial Generation, or Generation Y, anyone born between 1980-2000, see a different vision for their lives and have the tools to see that vision through.
More people are becoming entrepreneurs, living abroad, making an income online, having kids later or not having kids at all, living in tiny homes, being minimalists, actively seeking healing and alignment.
We are in an age that is more aware of the environment, what we eat, what we wear, what we drive.
We are the generation that is truly bringing more light and consciousness to the planet.
We are also living in a time where the online world of social media has become very toxic for a lot of people.
'Comparisonitis' is massive epidemic. We are constantly comparing ourselves and our every day lives, to the highlight reel of other people and feeling inadequate in regards to our bodies, relationships, status, money, lifestyle, wardrobe and the list goes on.
We are seeking validation from other people and strangers to like or comment on our posts so we can feel good, worthy and enough.
So in this time, where there is such a massive heightening of our minds, consciousness and vibration, how can we tap into that energy and expand ourselves more, rather then get beaten down by the daily posts and shares that make us feel like...shit.
Here are a few ways to not only curate a healthier relationship with your IG or FB, but to work on LIKING yourself, your body and your life more...and not waiting for other people to validate you based on their likes and comments.
YOU NEED TO LIKE YOURSELF FIRST!
STEP 1: CLEAN UP YOUR GRAM, FAM
1. UNFOLLOW UNFOLLOW UNFOLLOW
If you are following accounts that post negative, racist, sexist or extreme content that makes your skin crawl...unfollow them.
If you are following accounts that post things that get a negative reaction out of you...unfollow them (yes even if they are your friends).
If you are following accounts that don't align with you...unfollow them.
It's better to unfollow accounts that don't make you feel good, because not only are you getting into a lower vibration, but you are sending that person low vibes too, so no one wins in that equation.
2. STOP THE JEALOUSY, START THE BLESSING
If you find yourself feeling jealous or envious of someones life, instead of sending them that jealous energy, try sending them a blessing. Think things like "good for them", "I am so happy for her", "wow he must have worked really hard to get there". If you desire something that someone else has, and you don't have it yet, then being jealous of them is sending out that frequency to the Universe that actually blocks that same thing from coming into your life. You have to rise up and feel your way into blessing them with a whole heart. That's how you enter a state of allowing for the Universe to provide.
3. FOLLOW YOUR HEART
What do you dream of doing? Where do you dream of going? What inspires you? Who motivates you? Since you have unfollowed so many accounts that are not serving you and your higher purpose, you have space to follow accounts that DO! Look up travel accounts, motivational accounts, business leaders, or whatever and who ever gets you inspired and excited, so that when you go through your feed you will see back to back posts that will make you dream big and get tools, tips and techniques to see your dreams through. I also love to save posts that really hit my heart strings and you can print them out and add them to your dream board or book!
4. TURN OFF YOUR DAMN NOTIFICATIONS
Okay dudes and dudettes, you do NOT need to know every single time someone likes, comments, DMs, follows or unfollows you. Shut that distracting shit DOWN! For real though. How are we supposed to be grounded and present in what we are doing when our phone is lighting up like a Christmas tree all day. Quit it already! Go into your setting, find your notifications section, and turn them off.
STEP 2: GIVE YOURSELF MORE (SELF) LIKES
1. WHAT ARE YOU TELLING YOURSELF?
Everyday, look in the mirror and say 3 things that you like about yourself. It may feel silly at first, but your mind and body are always listening to what you say and how you feel, so give yourself some love daily.
2.FIND THE POSITIVE ASPECTS ABOUT YOURSELF AND YOUR LIFE.
With comparisonitis, we often look at what we have, where we are or even who we are, and think that we aren't enough. So this activity will give you an opportunity to look at all of those things with fresh eyes. Write down the different parts of yourself and your life, ex. Body, Home, Job, Relationships Status, Money etc, and then under each one write down at least 5-10 positive things. Remember, when you look at things differently, the things you are looking at start to change (in a positive way).
3. POST WITH THE RIGHT INTENTION
I love Instagram. I really do. I love sharing my story and writing magical captions to help others be inspired and empowered. When I post I make sure that my intentions are of a high vibration. I do not post to show off or to say "I am better then you". I post so I can say I am here for you and we are in this together. So before you post, ask yourself, why am I posting this picture? Is it to get attention? Is it to make someone jealous? Is it to show off? Or is it to celebrate yourself, inspire others or share something valuable.
4. BE REAL ON THE REEL
Be authentic, be real, be open, talk about the hard stuff too. You will be surprised with how many people are waiting to hold space for you and give you support, advice and resources. We are after all, in this together. The highlight reel is one part of the story, but you are so much more multi-dimensional than that, share your truth, you never know who it will resonate with or who you could help by being real.
I truly hope that this resonated with you my friends. I know how much I have shifted in regards to how I view myself in and out of social media and these steps really helped me.
